Recreational Watercraft

The Various Types Of Recreational Crafts

Many people take pleasure in roaming the surface of the sea using watercraft. Some use large ships for cruising, while some prefer smaller boats for a faster and more exciting interaction with the sea. There are different categories of boats, some of which are mainly used for transport and some which are primarily for sports and recreation.

There are watercraft that are even for agility and speed, such as the ones used by coast guards. These are the ones used by authorities to capture and arrest illegal sea transport vehicles. These have easily-manipulable steering handles or steering wheels to improve quickness of movement.

Because almost anything sort of watercraft can now be used as for amusement, even huge watercraft can be used for sports. However, the best choices of watercraft for leisure are the ones that come in smaller sizes, to enable a more thrilling drive on the waters. Some of the most well-known recreational watercrafts include the following:

Canoe

This kind of watercraft may or may or may not need to be marked or registered. They still need to follow the
recreational craft directive
nevertheless. All the laws concerning the use of watercraft must still be followed, in order to avoid any conflict. Smaller canoes no longer need to be registered, unless they exceed the specified size.

Jet Ski

The term JetSki or Jet Ski is actually the name of the brand of a particular type of personal watercraft. It is designed with a body similar to that of a motorcycle, except that it has a boat’s bottom instead of wheels. It is used both as a recreational watercraft and a sports vehicle. It also follows the
recreational craft directive
, wherein safety measures are always observed by drivers.

Kayak

This watercraft type is usually ridden on rivers with cruel currents. As a sport tool, kayaks are designed to withstand waves that can damage a regular watercraft. The materials used to design sport kayaks are approved and are under governed by the
recreational craft directive
. It is powered by pure human effort and no motor is involved.
