Know a few facts before getting your Boat License or Jet Skiing License! by Boatlicences
Many of us are interested in water sports. To mention two peculiar likeable sports of such a category, I should say that boating and jet skiing are the two very popular water sports. But, if you are really a lover of water sports, you would also know that you do require a license to handle any of these. Yes, even for boats. Now you would say who would check, who cares? No, people do check, there are Maritime officers watching you and can anytime ask for your license in case you are exceeding the stipulated norms of water sporting, or even as a general routine. In case you were not aware, make it clear with you right now that you need a boat license even if you are not a professional, and if you are just going there for recreation. However, you must note that the license is granting depending on the speed of your boat (normally above 10 knots should compulsorily have a license).
The other day, a friend of mine went looking for Jet Ski license forms, but couldn’t find any. All exhausted, he asked someone at the office he visited, that why was there a dearth of jet skiing forms? The person burst out in laughter at him! My friend all confused asked him why, and he replied, ‘You want to get a license for your favorite water sport, but you don’t even know that that is the name of the brand mate!’ So my friend all embarrassed asked the man there to help him out. It’s actually funny to note here that we all use this term jet ski interchangeably for a term called PWC – Personal Watercraft, but w don’t really pay much attention to such things. These Personal Watercrafts are of different kinds – stand-up PWCs (where you stand and ride the bike), Waverunners (where you sit and ride the bike, note once again that Waverunner is actually a brand from Yamaha for PWCs) and so on.
Coming to the procedure of getting a license, the possibilities are two or three. First, you don’t know how to ride, so you enroll yourself in a training school, and they help you give a test and obtain a license. Second, if you already know how to ride bikes, then go get a form and the Boating Licence Practical Handbook or again enroll yourself in a training course and get the licence,
License duration – 1 year to three years.
